How Period Pants Work

What are Period Pants?

WUKA Period Pants are underwear that fully absorbs your period and light urine leaks and locks it in keeping you dry, so you can wave goodbye to disposable pads and tampons!

The Power of Layers

Each pair of WUKA Period Pants has a super absorbent gusset made up of many layers. The middle layers absorb and lock-in the blood, whilst the outer, moisture-wicking layers keep you feeling secure and dry. Each of our leak-proof layers are very breathable to reduce any smells and chance of infection.

Magic Gusset

All of our period pants feature a high and wide rise gusset to lock-in period blood and urinary leaks. Our overnight styles boast an extra-high gusset that goes all the way to the back waistband, making them perfect for a secure and worry-free night’s sleep!

How Many Period Pants do I Need?

The amount of period pants you may need depends on how heavy your flow is and how long your periods tend to last. We’re all different. Some people have light periods and some of us experience much heavier flows!

We tend to find that 5-7 pairs is best for most of our customers. But, of course, you know your flow best! WUKA offers deals for cycle sets with 3 and 5 pairs of period pants.

How To Wash

Taking good care of your period pants ensures that they not only last longer, but they stay as absorbent as possible. WUKA Period Pants last for around 2 years, but the kinder you are to them, the longer they’ll last.

Here are our tips on how to keep your pants happy and in the best condition:

1. Rinse After use, give them a quick rinse. It’s up to you where you choose to rinse your pants - some of us prefer to use a sink, some prefer to rinse in the shower, and others even have a dedicated WUKA-rinsing bucket! (Now that’s some true WUKA love!)

2. Hand Wash or Machine Wash Like all lingerie, period pants are delicate so hand washing prolongs their lifespan. Use a laundry bag to wash them in and keep the separate from other clothing.  Pop your WUKAs in the washing machine with similar, dark coloured garments and wash at 30 to 40 degrees. (We recommend 30, as it’s better for the environment!). Use your favourite non bio detergent as normal, but please don’t use fabric conditioner. Fabric conditioner can reduce the absorbency of your period pants over time, which isn’t ideal.

3. Dry Air dry your WUKA Period Pants outside on the line or indoors on an airer - it’s up to you (or the weather). They dry faster when they’re inside out, too.

And that’s it. Wear, wash, reuse and we hope you love your WUKA as much as we love making them
